Day Trips

Sacramento is a great base for day trips to nearby and interesting places to visit. On the "Day Trips" page you'll find links to several different destinations for day trips from Sacramento. Each of these destinations is described in separate PDF files which can be downloaded and used to plan a different day trip either during, before, or after the Convention. Each narrative includes general travel directions (although you still need a good map), suggestions for things to see and places to visit, admission costs (if any), Internet links for more information, places to have lunch, travel times, and background information on the places you can visit.

Fairytale Town

Fairytale Town is a 2.5-acre children's play park and outdoor children’s museum that brings fairytales and nursery rhymes to life. It is located in William Land Park in Sacramento in a lush garden setting and features imaginative, three-dimensional play sets based on fairytales.

Raging Waters

Raging Waters, at Cal Expo, features more than 25 slides and attractions including speed slides, a wave pool, and an area for little ones. There is something for every family member at Raging Waters.

Esquire IMAX Theatre
1211 K Street, Sacramento
Treat your senses to the most powerful and involving movie experience ever created. The IMAX technology brings images to life in 2D/3D like no other film experience. The theatre seats 395, with a 6-story high, 80 ft wide screen and 12,000 watts of digital wraparound sound. The IMAX is located directly between the Sheraton and Hyatt Convention hotels on K Street.

Sacramento Zoo

The Sacramento Zoo is home to over 140 native, rare, and endangered species and is one of more than 200 accredited institutions with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Scandia Family Fun Center
5070 Hillsdale Boulevard, Sacramento
The Miniature golf complex includes two 18-hole miniature golf courses, bumper boats, Lil' Indy race cars, batting cages and an arcade.
